I wanted to post about I study that a couple local DJ’s were talking about the other day. Only I can’t find it…I googled: “study about how many close friends people have vs 1980s” and up came these top 2 recommendations: “DOG- Wikipedia” and “Sexuality, homosexuality and bi-sexuality”. Not quite what I was searching for.

The study compared the number of close friends a person has oday vs. back in my glory days, the rockin’ 80′s. Waaaaaaay back then it was common for people to have 3 to 4 close friends. Now the number is 1-2 (if I am getting that right).

The first two criteria were whether the friend is someone who would lend you money or take you in for an extended period if you are down and out, in which case I have zero close friends because I seriously don’t think any of them would be offering either of those. Or maybe they would. I’ll need to ask just in case.

What do you think? Silly criteria or true in your case?

P.S. Many people answered that they have 0 close friends, the reason being that (1) they have nothing to say or (2) they have a lot to say but no one wants to hear it…

Those of you considering self-hosted wp, this is one of the drawbacks. It seems whenever the host site makes a tweak, I need to go to my domain manager to re-link to the new address. Who knew??? I’m more into the writing of blog posts, what little I’ve done lately, than the techie part so this is a source of much frustration and had me strongly considering a return to Blogger. Oh yeah, I said Blogger.

But here I am. Oh, did I mention I studied 16+ hours for a lab test last weekend? Yep, I cloistered myself in the house for 3 days, only to show up for class on Tuesday to find the prof. had cancelled class and the exam would now be TAKE HOME!!! GRRRRRRRRR…. I’ve realized I am spending too much time studying and need to scale back. Of course, just when I do that is when they’ll hit me with a doozy.

In other news, I discovered the $42 foundation I had been using last year looks much better than the $12 foundation I am now using. This was discovered by squeezing out a teeny bit I had left in the old tube that was sitting in the drawer. Do I go back to splurging on the $42 foundation or put the extra $30 money for VC’s college fund??? Now, that’s a tough one!

This time of year is when fancy grocery stores are holding their holiday food tasting events. I encourage you to check them out, as me and MB did today. It will save you having to make dinner and assuming an annoying neighbor does not come along and disrupt your free meal, as happened today, the food can be quite enjoyable. Plus fingers crossed that I’ll win one of the gift baskets

It’s the simple things that keep me going. Only a month and 2 days til holiday break from school. I CANNOT WAIT!!! Excited about my little “freelance” art opportunity I have this week. If I could parlay that into a regular gig helping artists host openings at their studios, I’d quit college IN A HEARTBEAT. and pass up on the whopping 10.50-$12.00 an hour that I’ll have the “opportunity” to make upon graduation as stated in the official Student Handbook.

I’ve been trying not to write so much about school in order not to bore you to death. Buuuuuuut, there is something I wanted to post so y’all can see why I am so stressed out.

Do you know that the grading scale for my “medical” courses (including physiology and anatomy) is completely different than the regular grading scale used by the rest of the school??? Ohhh yeah, it is!

According to our scale – a “C” is 85-90; a “B” is 90-95 and an “A” is 95-100.

Soooooooo, anything below an 85 is considered an “F” and an average below an 85 in any of the classes I am taking means a re-do of the class next semester or more likely next year when the course is offered again. Plus the added bonus of having a ZERO (for F) averaged into your final GPA.

How do you like them apples??

Had a horrible, horrible online test yesterday. The clock was ticking and I was sweating. I swear this stress is not healthy.

Which brings me to fake teeth. I was looking at some photos of a sports star yesterday. While flipping through the slideshow, I noticed his teeth used to be totally different. He had one of those snaggle tooths, which on him was cute and he was still hot, and normal colored teeth. Fast foward a couple years and he had the complete Hollywood tooth makeover, perfect shockingly white teeth, which I think aged him greatly. I’m not mentioning his name because he was recently in a horrible tragedy

What makes people think a full set of veneers so that every tooth looks perfect makes them look better, especially if they were already good looking to begin with?

It almost looks like they are wearing dentures.

Oh well. Don’t think I’ll be signing up for the Hilary Duff Special any time soon. You?

Have you seen this video – of the baby who wonders why her magazine is not working like an i-PAD.  Maybe I’m showing my age but it kinda makes me long for the olden days of pencil and paper.

Look for the part where she wonders if her finger is not working properly so she taps it on her leg.

Now to hit the books…..They are actual books, with paper pages. And, ironically, VC is performing at the Renaissance Festival where he is not permitted to use electronic devices in view of patrons. We are so 1600′s!!!!

I have enjoyed posting slice of life posts these past few years and have always managed to keep this blog hidden from most people I know in real life so that I could post freely.  Until recently.  By accident.  After a sleepless night I am contemplating a blog blackout for a few days until I decide how to proceed. It has been in part a journaling outlet of sorts but I’ve come to realize how unwise that can be if it becomes exposed to areas you’d rather it not, such as work and perhaps school….

I can’t believe I haven’t posted in October yet!  Anyway, so last night I had to head out to seek a wireless signal so that I could go on the internet.  MB, in his infinite wisdom and love of digging, had severed the phone line in the back yard so we had no DSL.

Panic immediately set in – because I had an ONLINE TEST TODAY!!!!!  It was a very sleepless night, but the repair guy arrived bright and early this morning and got us set up. Disaster averted…

Anyway, so last night I was looking for a wireless signal. I thought for sure there would be one in the supermarket at the Starbuck’s area, but there was not – we moseyed around (VC and I) and found that there was a strong signal outside the burger joint.  So we camped out on some wire chairs and I checked emails and he watched some Repo Man show on YouTube.  We were about to close up when he realized he needed to access his online textbook to do his homework, so with a little ingenuity and photographing of screen, he was able to go home and do his work.

All of this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the point of this post.  It is that I bumped into THAT person outside the supermarket.  The person around whom I always freeze up and sound like a bumbling idiot the minute I open my mouth.

We got to discussing juggling and how VC would miss it due to the RenFest, at which point I blurted out that I hoped it would be warm on Sat for the first day, not that that made a big difference. Then I rambled on about how we had no internet since the phone line was in the middle of the backyard and MB severed it and the Library was closed on Thursdays so VC was sitting – pointed to spot – doing his homework and that he did a “little thing” at the school that morning (meaning a juggling performance although it was hard to tell from my wording) because it was Fairytale day and that it was so touching that the teacher of one of the educationally challenged kids came up to him to say the boy had said “that was awesome” – and that was monumental because he normally doesn’t speak much and then I closed with something about keeping us posted.

*Catches breath*

I’d like to say I’ll remember to do that next time, but you know I won’t…..
