I just noticed that a blogger whose blog I read every so often is going to be featured in a book.
No sooner had I read this than I turned green with envy and got all ga ga eyed. A book! How fabulous.
For years I’ve had this hang up that I need to validate my existence somehow and one way to do it would be in a book. Only problem is that I am not a “writer,” have lived a fairly mundane middle class existence – no gritty stories to tell about being raised on the street and living out of a van. Nothing special. Didn’t move around a lot, got good grades, i.e. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!
I’ve known a few people who have written books, published by those small publishing houses. Let’s be honest, if you really want to publish a book, if you pay the money, you can have your book published.
And is it really any sort of validation? or is this just another one of my weird ideals?
Maybe I’m more suited to writing than working in the medical field – that’s a given, but do I need a book to validate my existence. I need to find some heavy books to try and flatten out my textbook that is now water damaged. So I have a use for my “non-existent soon to be written” book already.
How about you?

I haven’t written a book, nor do I have any plans to write one, but I’ve decided I’m comfortable calling myself a writer. I write all the time and people read it, that’s enough validation for me.

I have no plans to write a book. It would be cool though.

Wanted to say “Hi” … let you know I’m still alive.
I’m not interested in writing a book … my most hated subject in school was anything having to do with creative writing … you can tell that by my blog updates
)
Still following along … just not motivated to stay connected online right now.
Good luck with the tests.

I have no plans to write a book, although that would be cool. However, I am definitely not a writer. The only thing I could ever see myself writing is a baby name book…lol! Although you know what, I’m sure a lot of people don’t think they will write books, and then something happens in their life that prompts them to. So…never say never!

Quite a few people have said I should write a book. I’m not technically a good writer, I have bad grammar and use words like “kinda” and “gonna” which my not go down to well, but yes I would love to write a book. I do feel I have a story to tell, but I don’t think I’m a good writer.

I have read several bloggers that have written books and they self-published,not quite the same as having a publishing company with an editor but I think it is great they made the first step and are attempting to reach their goals. I wouldn’t know where to begin but if you want to write I think self-publishing is a great start and a way to jump start your dream!! I think you need to follow your heart and your dream. Do you like what you are doing? Are you doing it because you need to for an income source? Once you have a job will you be able to pursue your creative dream? These are the questions you need to answer. And, lastly do you worry about living your dream or getting validation from society too? I know longer worry about explaining my life to anyone. We are happy and we like the life we are living at the moment and I don’t need to explain it to anyone.
Good Luck!!

I have always wanted to write a book and have even written a young adult scary thing that is AWFUL! I decided my writing skills fit better on a blog and changed to painting! It would be cool to BE IN a book though. Carla

I have to admit that I would love to be a writer even though I have zero writing skills.
I really admire writers. However, I have to say that self publishing wouldn’t do it for me. If anyone with enough money can pay to get something published, it’s just not that impressive, in my opinion. If you can buy something it just means you have the money and to that, I say so what. I’d rather have the talent and skills to earn it.
So can I just shove my blog posts into a book and say “Here you go”?
I’m going to be a millionaire!!!

Thinking about writing a book makes me smile because that is one of my dreams… I just don’t know if I can really make it now. Maybe in the near future…

I have always felt the same thing. That a very important book idea was brewing somewhere inside of me and that I had to make this happen or I could never consider myself to be a writer. I realize now how completely silly that all is. To be a writer, one must write. With passion and purpose. As with anything else. Maybe I’ll never be published; it still doesn’t make me any less of the title I have always wanted to assign to myself. Make sense?
But I do have plans to return to the book I started writing ages ago. Completing it would provide me with the greatest sense of satisfaction. Of course having it published wouldn’t hurt either? :p
I have always just *felt* like I was going to write a book someday. But I have nothing to write about. And I probably don’t have the skills, but that is what publishers do right? Fix your bad writing?
