Earning Some R-E-S-P-E-C-T

I was talking with a couple classmates after class and the one was encouraging me to go to nursing school since I did so well on the entrance exam – which is the test I took last year when I applied for and was accepted to the PT Assistant thingy at the other college.

Anyway, so I was saying at my age it doesn’t make sense to spend too much more time in school. And then one of them asked how old I was and they were floored. These are girls who have been in class with me for over 6 months. I’m extra self-conscious about my age now that I have reached my coughmidforties But I’m glad I revealed it since now maybe I’ll get some respect as the “experienced in life” student. They’ll be like, who cares if the old lady got a [insert grade] – at that age she is lucky she can still think, especially after a recent study revealed that mental decline officially starts at age 45.
:-O)

P.S. I am still not receiving email notifications of your comments and I have no idea how to fix it since the box under Settings Discussion is set at “E-mail me whenever Anyone posts a comment.” $20 giftcard up for grabs if you can fix it. I’m afraid it may have to do with another conflicting plug-in. So that’s why I am still unable to email you back when you leave a comment.

  1. Well, you could do it if you wanted to. You’re a smart cookie! Age 45 and it all starts to unravel, huh? Whoa.

Of course they were surprised – you are very young looking, and you don’t act like an old codger.

Things start to unravel at 45? I thought that started at 30… at least it did for me.

  6. You go girl. I remember when I went back to school, gosh 30 years ago…egad…and at the time I was the oldest in the class usually. Then, it wasn’t the thing to go back to school, anyway it was kind of a cool thing to be the oldest until I had an idiot instructor that wanted my first hand knowledge about when Kennedy was shot. Jerk, I was only 5 or 6.

Hey, you are never too old,if you want to go for nursing, do it!!!
And, don’t you love it when they don’t think you are your age? C’mon that is always a boost!!
Oh, sorry can’t help you with the technological stuff, I am clueless, you know, dealing with the mental declining problem and all LOL.

The good news is that mental decline does NOT begin at 45. In fact, it doesn’t begin at all as long as you are learning new things — like languages, computers or going back to school. So celebrate your growing, youthening brain!

Well it was a real compliment you should be pleased. A young girl came up to me whilst I was dj-ing and said “Can we have some 60′s music please? You know, your era of music?”

I felt 103 after that and a bit ridiculous to be honest.

Wow..I’ve missed out on a lot these few months! I look forward to looking through the rest of your posts. Congrats on your continuing education and I definitely think you should go for the nursing program! It’s great that others see such potential in you and you may fulfill a calling you didn’t know was there! Good luck with whatever you decide!

That should make you feel good! I don’t know the actual number, but I know you have mentioned being in your mid40s and every time I see a pic I think “nu uh, no way.” Go you!

Also, I’m in trouble because I swear I’ve been unraveling for years now. HA!

You should totally do it! That’s funny that no one knew your age, but then again I’m horrible at ages. When I was in HS but taking college classes, peoples reactions were hilarious when they found out I was only 16. :D
