….since several of you inquired about VC’s fire juggling. (Fire juggling is an essential skill for 14 year olds.
)
….since I am being featured on Mocha Dad’s blog today!!! (Please head on over and show him some love! )
…and especially since I haven’t posted a video of VC jugging in at least 3 months, I figured no one would object…
VC edits and choreographs to the music all on his own. Here’s his latest creation:
Health Update: The endocrinologist confirmed the diagnosis of Hashimoto’s…Then he scoffed (or maybe it was more like a “polite chuckle”) when I mentioned my research on being able to control the progression of the disease with diet alone…BAH! I shall not be deterred in my quest to avoid taking medication for the rest of my life….I’ll keep ya posted!
He did some additional labwork, and when I called today to get the results, the nurse seriously pulled up my chart and then told me that the results had been mailed out this morning so I would need to wait to receive them. She had the results RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER. I’m strongly beginning to question this new practice. No wonder the U.S. healthcare system is going down the crapper!!!!!

This is too funny. I was driving home tonight from Target, listening to the radio, and I was going to post as my FB status, “California Gurls is literally playing on every station. NPR must be so proud.”

It’s difficult to see the cord on the scenes with the diabolos so they look as though VC is orchestrating little flying saucers. Wonderful.
Re your health – that nurse is a bit of a twit isn’t she? It’s not fair to make you stew whilst waiting for the post to arrive on something that is to do with your health. Maybe the reason she couldn’t just say is to do with avoiding litigation – mustn’t get into health discussions over the phone and potentially say the wrong thing. What’s the betting however that somewhere in that letter it suggests you phone and discuss the results with the doctor?

Damn those doctors. Keep searching out the diet that makes you feel better. As well as accupuncture and other techniques. Even if those can just supplement the medication or allow you to take a reduced dosage, that’s good.
I’ll be sure to head over to Mocha Dad when he has your feature up.

- Trasditional medicine, yes, but…meh!

dang it, I can’t see the video
You should live in Illinois, they’d tell you in a heartbeat over the phone and then promptly tell everyone they know about your results
I still think diet has got to at least help some…doctors, schmoctors.

VC is sooooo talented!
(And yes, I would have reached through the phone and slapped that nurse…)

I’m going through a similar situation with my new doctor too. I just got diagnosed with under active thyroid and I’m waiting for the second set of blood tests and a scan. It should not be so hard to get someone to call you back.

And so funny, just the other day in the car with Splenda, I said – “I like this song, but it’s getting way overplayed” (california girls)
and Splenda says, “Never heard it before”
He does WAY too much sports and talk radio

Don’t even get me started on the sad state of our health care in this country! UGH!!
VC is quite the talented young man! I am uber impressed by his skills.

Health care… god they have messed ours up so much, it’s like a bad word! I think you should keep working on your research and prove this Dr. wrong.
Also, I can’t stand that Katy Perry song. Pop radio is a travesty right now.

VC is good.
That nurse would have ticked me off too! Sure, they say they can’t verify it’s you. BUT, when they want money, they can sure verify your identity then.
I hope your doc is wrong, many things can be controlled through diet alone. But, the pharmecutical reps (drs) don’t want you to know that.
My bad, Carma. I made a typo on my email.
Sorry.
VC does indeed have mad skillz. I am so impressed.

I love his juggling Videos!
I listen to my iPod in the car so I only hear it once thank goodness!!!
Yeah, doctors hate that “I researched on the internet” phrase. Just do it, don’t share, unless you need to ask but then just say, ” I was wondering or I talked to someone who has it and they suggested I try this”
I hope you do feel better soon!!!!

VC’s juggling is incredible!!! I also quite enjoy his taste in music.
I’m sorry to hear you’ve been confirmed for Hashimoto’s but yet, it’s good to know so that you can do whatever you need to do to deal with it.

VC is my hero. And there really are many places these skills can take you – motivational speaker, TV commercials, just to name two.
I called for lab results 2 weeks ago and received a call back (so they know they got me) the message was “Dr. will discuss them with you at your appointment.” 2 weeks later I have my appt, find out I need an IV infusion of iron, (actually several 2 weeks apart)and then I am told I MUST have the IV within 3 days. I MUST do it on their schedule.
I did rearrange my life to get it done, but had someone even told me that part of the results 2 weeks prior, would it have been better for my health?
Tell VC he rocks my world. I am so impressed! I just watched the video TWICE. It was that amazing.

WHOA! I had to put it on full screen so I could see what your son was doing with the yellow bowl like things. He’s good…
Sorry about the Hashimoto thing! I hope you find a good doctor who doesn’t laugh at you. I’ve changed doctors before for not taking me seriously…

Your son is AMAZING! I couldn’t take my eyes off of that video. Just way cool.
And thank the Lord for my satellite radio. I cannot even listen to regular radio anymore and the constant replay of terrible songs.
Remember this, doctors don’t know everything and in fact most doctors do not subscribe to anything but the theories of western medicine which is such a shame. So many types of alternative medicines have been around for thousands of years and their healing powers and practices should not be ignored. Do what works for you and don’t let traditional doctors feel you are any less for trying. Good luck.

Wow, he’s phenomenal! Such amazing talent! Not only the juggling but the video presentation too. Excellent work!
Hashimotos is not something to take too lightly, my friend – I’ve been living with it (diagnosed) for 26 years, and will be on meds for the rest of my life. Fortunately it’s a tiny pill once a day (although I often forget and take 2 every 2 days… which is fine given how it works). Given that it’s easily controlled, it’s not that big a deal as long as you keep an eye on it.
Definitely research different foods, but in the long run, taking the meds is your best bet. Doing both is ideal, as is taking care of yourself in all ways
Nurses (etc) cannot discuss your results or even give you the information over the phone here either, and it’s a CYA (cover your ass) legal issue. The doctor is legitimately the only person trained to discuss results and treatment… makes sense to me. Annoying though, when you just want numbers and she’s got them right there.
I can’t believe the results were right in front of her yet she didn’t tell you. You have every right to be frustrated!

I am so jealous of your sons talent!!! I got my son a juggling book when he was in 4th grade, because what a great hobby-something you can do while waiting in a dr’s waiting room, or during study hall, or in the checkout stand, etc….but he didn’t give it much of an effort at all!! Failure. Total Failure. Your son though is AMAZING!!! Think of all the great juggling scholarships he can apply for!!!
I think if you can avoid staying on drugs for the rest of your life, you are obligated to try. I don’t think our bodies really want us to take drugs forever. And I’m sure you have at least 60 years left of life, right? So 60 yrs of taking a medication would not be best!! Good for you doing your own research.
